Rainbow Zipper Purse by Debra Arch for Crochet World

Hello friends,

Today I want to introduce you to my favorite form of flattery... when someone uses the Sharp Crochet Hook to make something spectacular!!

Debra Arch uses the Sharp Crochet Hook to make this lovely rainbow purse with a zipper. It was just published in the newest issue of Crochet World.

Here is the pattern that was published in Crochet World Magazine, photo courtesy of Annie's.

Meet Debra Arch, crochet designer extraordinaire! Here is the q&a I had with her. What a gem!

How long have you been designing patterns? I have designed original projects for myself, my children, family & friends for decades. However, I started my professional designing career in 1998.

What is your favorite crochet design? I love all kinds of crochet...from useful  kitchen towels & matching kitchen decor items to home decor rugs, pillows & afghans;  scarves; purses and  baby items.  I like creating unusual designs that are "out side the box"... whimsical projects to make people smile.

Do you like to do other crafts?  I enjoy designing in many craft mediums. Over the past 15 years, I have had hundreds of  crochet, knitting, sewing, quilting, needle felting, hand applique, embroidery and needlepoint on plastic canvas designs  published in various magazines, pattern books and hard cover books. I also do calligraphy, machine embroidery and have made many tee shirt quilts over the years.

What is your day like?  I like to be in my craft studio by 8AM, if possible, along with a huge cup of coffee. There, I can gather up supplies to begin new designs. I LOVE the creative process and strive to give each design its own special look. I like to have a scented candle burning and play soft instrumental music on my CD player. I love to stay "in my element" in my studio as long as I can...until I have to stop and go make dinner!

What are your favorite design tools? My favorite design "tools" are the ones I use most often which include: the Sharp crochet hook; Clover's Amour padded handle crochet hooks and also their needle felting tools; straight and pinking edge rotary cutters, cutting mat and all sizes of Creative Grid rotary rulers; Sulky's spray adhesive and their blended cotton threads for hand and machine embroidery and especially my lap top on which I type all my instructions!

Where can we find your designs? You can see many of my latest crochet designs from past and present issues of  Crochet! and Crochet World magazines  (including the Rainbow Coin purse) at: www.ravelry.com/designers/debra-arch
My quilting, needle felting and wool felt applique projects can be seen in past and present issues of Create & Decorate magazine.

Thanks Debra Arch for letting us get to know you better!
