One Minute Cake + Easy scrapbook gift bag

Heyyy guys! Who wants some SUGAR! RIGHT NOW? How about in the form of a 1 Minute Cake!? What's that... did I just hear you salivate?

Yes, you can have cake with just one minute of cook time! I'm going to tell you how to make it, and how to make a pretty packaging for it so you can share this fabulous invention with all of your friends!

Scrapbook Bag Packaging Instructions:

This scrapbook paper bag is reusable, durable, and stunning. It takes about an hour to finish, and it is a lot of FUN to make! You can use it for the 3-2-1 Cake Mix (instructions below), a small book, a Sharp Crochet Hook and Crochet Edging Pattern Book (hint hint, Mother's Day is coming up.. ;)), toy cars, a small plush animal, or anything that is flattish (about 2 or 3" wide max), or squishable. (Yes, squishable is a word on this blog!)

Here is what you need:
-1 sheet of 12" x 12" scrapbook paper
-size 3 crochet thread
-Sharp Crochet Hook
-size 4 crochet hook
- scissors
-scrapbook paper cutter if you have it, if not just use scissors

Step 1:
Cut your scrapbook paper in half. If you have directional  paper, cut it vertical so the pattern is correct with dimensions 6" x 12." If you have a scrapbook paper cutter, this is the step when you should use it.

Step 2:
Lay your scrapbook papers on top of each other with the right side facing out. If it is directional, one should look right side up and the reverse side should be upside down. Round all the corners slightly.

Step 3:
Using your Sharp Crochet Hook and string (aka crochet thread), crochet into the paper leaving 1/4" in between stitches and 1/4" from edge. Work down one side, along the bottom, and up the other side. Crochet twice in the corners. Then crochet across the side that looks upside down... if you aren't using directional paper, just choose one side to crochet across. You should have 27 single crochets along the top.

Step 4:

This is the fun part!
Turn and loosely single crochet in each of the 27 stitches made with the Sharp Crochet Hook. This is round 2. Turn.
Round 3: Ch 4 (this counts as the first dc), sk st, dc. *ch 1, sk st, dc.* Repeat from *. You should now have 15 dc. Turn.
Round 4-5: Do same as round 3. You should do your dc on top of the dc made in previous round. Easy!
Round 5: Ch 1 (counts as first sc), *ch 6, sk 3 st and sc in 4th stitch.* Repeat from * until you have 7 arches. Turn.
Round 6: Do 7 sc in each arch. Tie and cut and weave end into project to hide.

See, totally awesome!!!

Step 5: Fill with gift, fold top over, wrap with string and tie in a bow. Beautiful!

Now for that 3-2-1 CAKE!

My sweet Mother-in-law emailed me the recipe for this last week and my family thinks it is the best thing since sliced bread!

You can have warm fluffy cake in just one minute!

Here is the 3-2-1 Cake recipe:

Ingredients:
1 box Angel Food Cake Mix
1 box Cake Mix- any flavor

Directions: In a ziploc bag, combine the two cake mixes together and mix. For each individual cake serving, take out 3 Tablespoons of the cake mix combo and mix it with 2 Tablespoons of water in a small microwave safe container (such as a mug). Microwave on high for one minute.

Keep remaining cake mixture stored in the ziploc bag and use whenever you feel like a treat! You can top each cake with a dallop of whipped topping, fresh fruit, sprinkles, chocolate chips, etc.

For the purpose of sharing with a friend, divide the mix in half and put each in a baggy. You can keep one for yourself. Regarding your friend's- squeeze the baggy as you close it to get out all the air. Fold in the general shape of the bag you made.

Then, put it in the bag, fold bag top over, wrap with string and tie in a bow. Beautiful!

The 3-2-1- Cake Tag Free Printable

You should now print off the instructions for making the 3-2-1 Cake so your friend doesn't think you gave her about a pound of "mysterious white powder."

Here are the tags I came up with. You should be able to cut and paste the picture below into a program such as Word to print.

Step 1:
Print out on cardstock or scrapbook paper. Cut each circle on the solid line.

Step 2:
Using your Sharp Crochet Hook and Crochet Thread, single crochet into each dot on the template. Start at the top. Tie and cut end leaving 4". Repeat for each tag you want to use.

Step 3:
Tie all the tags you are using together and tie to bow on the front of the bag.  I free handed the "Your Sweet!" and embossed it with black embossing powder. I wish I would have just printed it out, it would have looked much better, in my opinion. All's 20/20 in hindsight. Learn from my mistake, don't free hand the typography! LOL!

All finished, and ready to deliver. Go ahead, make this and make someone's day!
